We run martial arts classes in Bexhill from ages 5 and upwards and for all levels of fitness, capability and training needs. Our classes include separate sessions for Kids, Juniors and Adults as well as Family classes where parents and kids can train together.

Here at our martial arts club in Bexhill we train in the comprehensive style of Kuk Sool Won™, a traditional Korean martial arts system. Within our classes we look at many aspects of martial arts training including: Kicking, Striking, Joint-Locking Techniques, Sparring, Weapons, Moving Forms, Escape techniques, body conditioning, flexibility and more.

Kids Classes
Ages: 5-7 Years

With our 'Little Ninjas' Kids training programme in Bexhill we focus on improving confidence, co-ordination and balance as well as learning martial arts. We also make sure we have loads and loads of fun! Your little one will learn basic kicking, striking, blocking and self defence techniques as well as naturally improve their social skills, make new friends and use up all that excess energy! We aim to keep our Little Ninja classes small so that every student gets adequate attention, once the student is ready they are invited to move up to the Juniors programme.

Junior Classes
Ages: 8-12

Our Junior martial arts classes are ideal for ages 8 - 12 and will focus on developing control, self defence, awareness and fitness all within an encouraging and welcoming environment. On top of this, the classes encourage students to grow into confident, respectable and self-driven adults which will help them for the rest of their lives. Our Juniors will begin to learn a martial arts system that will grow with them and be there for them all the way into adulthood.

These classes are some of our most popular and we also run family sessions on Saturdays that allow parents to train with their children so experiences can be shared and enjoyed.

Adult Classes
Age: 13+

Our Adult training classes are a mixture of self defence training, fitness, body conditioning, flexibility training and more. Designed to provide our members with a full body workout while learning the key elements of self defence.

In our Adults class you will learn kicking/striking, joint-locking techniques, sparring, escape techniques, weapons (including nunchuks, staff and sword) as well as improve your general strength and fitness all within an encouraging and welcoming environment.

Family Classes
Mixed Age Groups (7+)

Many of our instructors have families that train with us and these family classes are fast becoming our most popular sessions. Many parents have expressed over the years how they would love to train in something like a martial art but can't because they have kids.

We looked to solve that challenge by running martial arts classes where parents and kids can all train together, we always make sure that adults and juniors get the right coaching level within the joint class.

These classes are suitable for ages 7 and upwards, students are welcome to train whether they come on their own or with a family member.

At the Bexhill club we pride ourselves on building strong, independent, students who are able to grow beyond themselves and develop into confident, independent martial artists.

"This is a great place to learn martial arts, especially for those of us who are completely new to this sort of thing. I have been attending classes for just over a year now with my partner and we attend 2 or 3 classes a week and they all offer different things to enjoy. Tuesdays are generally busier and have a wide variety of abilities who attend (I was terrified by the thought of being in a class with the black belts for a long time) and it's great to try different things. Thursdays are generally a bit quieter and so it's easier to get a bit more attention from the instructors to practice your own forms and techniques. Saturdays are a new class for us and are good fun too, more of a family oriented class and so great to train with some younger people too. My teenage daughter has just started attending the classes with us as well and she thoroughly enjoys it so far. I have graded up twice since starting last year, and feel much more confident in the classes. I am becoming more flexible which is great for someone with a desk job! Having never really stuck at a sport or going to the gym since leaving high school I am really pleased to realise as I write this that I have been coming for just over a year and am more motivated now than when I started to keep attending class and levelling up as far as I can go. About Us

Our Instructors and Sessions
Our martial arts sessions are run by DBS cleared, fully insured, qualified instructors who have trained for many years and hold multiple gold medals from the UK and European tournaments. We are proud to have our chief instructor Joe, along with other members of our instructor team who pride in giving our students a professional, supportive and unique experience within every session. The utmost care is taken to ensure every student progresses in a manner that is catered to their needs, this way our students get the most from their training time with us. Through careful explanation, practical application and coaching that adapts to each individual, you will gain greater command of your body as you progress in your flexibility, confidence, balance and strength.

We see many students coming into our classes who had expressed concerns prior to joining as they had no background of martial arts training. Many worried that they weren’t flexible enough, had poor stamina, were ‘too old’ etc. rest assured that is not a problem. We welcome students of all abilities, age, gender and backgrounds and if you join you will find many people in exactly the same place as you are. These classes are here for growth and progression, not judgement, everyone has to start somewhere.

What is Kuk Sool Won

Kuk Sool Won™ is a systematic study of all of the traditional fighting arts, which together comprise the martial arts history of Korea. As a martial arts system, Kuk Sool Won™ is extremely well-organised; and seeks to integrate and explore the entire spectrum of established Asian fighting arts and body conditioning techniques, as well as mental development and traditional weapons training.

Some elements that will be covered while studying Kuk Sool Won

  • Hand Striking: Closed and open hand striking methods, palm, wrist, and finger striking, blocking and parrying, animal-style techniques, pressure point striking, striking with arm and shoulder, specialised palm training, etc.
  • Leg Techniques: Foundation kicking, front leg kicking, spinning kicks, jumping kicks, combination kicking, jump spinning kicks, double leg kicking, kicking defence, pressure point kicking, speciality kicking, etc.
  • Throwing and Grappling: Body throws, projection throws, wrestling techniques, leg throws, ground fighting, pressure point grappling, grappling defence, etc.
  • Joint-Locking Techniques: Pain throws, arresting and “come along” techniques, restraining methods, joint breaking techniques, control and re-direction techniques, combination joint locking, etc.
  • Falling Techniques and Acrobatics: Body protection techniques, throwing defence, acrobatics for body conditioning and agility, acrobatics for defence and offence, etc.
  • Form: Combination of strikes, kicks and movements in a ‘dance’ like sequence.
  • Body Conditioning: Stretching and flexibility training, cardiovascular conditioning, muscle training, joint flexibility and bone conditioning.
  • Animal-Styles Techniques: Techniques based on the movement and / or characteristics of certain “martial” animals such as Tiger, Praying Mantis, Crane, Dragon, Bear, etc.
  • Traditional Korean Weapons: Straight sword, inverted sword, double sword, double short sword, pole, jool bong (nunchaku), short stick, double short stick, spear, cane, belt, folding fan, etc.
  • Martial Art Healing Methods (beginning at Instructor Level): Acupressure, acupuncture, internal energy systems, herbal medicine, etc.
  • Meditation and Breathing Techniques: Various Breath control techniques, Meditation and Breathing postures, Concentration techniques etc.
